The National Civil Police is the armed security force of Guatemala, which is in charge of safeguarding public order, as well as the civil security of the population, oblivious to any political activity. Its organization is hierarchical in nature and its operation is governed by the strictest discipline. The National Civil Police exercises its functions twenty-four hours a day throughout the territory of the republic. For the purposes of its operation, it will be divided into districts and its number and demarcation will be set by its General Directorate. It is made up of members of the police career and the administrative career.
